Product Description
Parallel Dual-Pack BMS Overview

Two packs are better than one — until they start arguing. A vehicle that carries a second battery to extend range needs both packs to share current according to what each can actually deliver, and it needs a management arrangement that prevents a full pack from pushing current into a depleted one through the shared bus. The JNFN ANT 20PPB is a 20-series 72 V integrated BMS board with a parallel coordination function built into the communication layer, so a second pack can be added in the field without a separate controller.

Each board measures its own pack and publishes state of charge, available current and fault status on a shared RS485 link. Arbitration designates one board as the coordinator at power-up, and the pair then agree on a discharge split weighted by state of charge and internal resistance. If one pack develops a fault, it disconnects itself and signals the other, which continues supplying the vehicle rather than dropping the whole bus.

Key Features of the 20S 72V 100A Parallel BMS
  • Parallel Coordination over RS485: Up to four boards on one link negotiate a discharge split weighted by state of charge, which keeps a new pack from carrying an old one and prevents cross-circulation at rest.
  • Graceful Degradation: A pack that faults disconnects itself and announces the event; the remaining packs continue supplying the vehicle instead of the whole bus going down.
  • 100 A Continuous with 200 A Peak per Pack: Two boards in parallel give a 200 A capability in a package that fits the same enclosure as a single pack.
  • Independent Charge Paths: Each pack charges through its own path, so a charger connected to one pack does not push current through the parallel bus into the other.
  • IP65 Sealed, Coated Control Section: Mounted in the battery compartment of a utility vehicle, the board sees spray from washing and dust from unpaved service roads.
  • CAN for the Vehicle Controller: The coordinator publishes a combined pack view on CAN, so the vehicle sees one battery with the summed capacity rather than two separate devices.
  • Field-Addable Second Pack: Adding capacity later requires no firmware change, only an address setting and a link cable, which keeps a vehicle fleet upgradeable without returning it to the workshop.

Applications

Utility carts, low-speed shuttles and light electric trucks with a dual-pack layout are the primary fit, especially where the second pack is added after the first season of service. The board also suits retrofit range-extension projects where a builder wants to keep the original pack.

Fleet managers benefit from the graceful degradation behaviour, because a single pack fault no longer removes a vehicle from service, and from the combined CAN view, which keeps the vehicle controller unchanged.

Packaging and Quality Assurance

Delivery includes the board, a labelled harness, four NTC probes, a coordination link cable and a wiring diagram. Each board is tested in a two-unit parallel configuration, including a simulated fault disconnect, before packing.

Ordering: Single units and matched pairs are both available. Address defaults and coordination thresholds are set at the factory. A 24-month limited warranty covers the board.
